Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Naturopathic Physician?

A Naturopathic physician is a primary care provider licensed to provide many family practice services similar to a conventional medical doctor.  Naturopathic physicians have a full formulary of pharmaceutical medications which we are trained to employ judiciously when necessary. We can provide minor surgery, IV therapy and routine examinations and blood work.

What makes a Naturopathic Physician different is our training in holistic medicine and our expertise in modalities such as nutrition, herbal medicine, compounded prescription medications, homeopathy, spinal manipulation, and environmental medicine.  We have a unique philosophy of treating patients that embodies all aspects of health.

Why do most people see a Naturopathic Physician?

Many of our patients use our services as their primary form of family healthcare.  We have a significant amount of other patients who include us as a part of their health care team, working collaboratively with their medical doctor or specialist.

We also have quite a few patients who have unsuccessfully been referred from doctor to doctor in an attempt to solve their unique health issues.  We pride ourselves on helping to solve the most complicated and idiopathic of cases with functional testing, collaborative management and a whole lot of listening.  If this sounds like you or someone you know, schedule a free 15 minute consult with Dr. Chapman to see if our clinic is right for you.

What can I expect at a visit?

At an initial consultation, Dr. Chapman will take an extensive history of your individual health concerns.  He or she will provide and comprehensive physicial exam, order lab work, provide musculoskeletal therapy and suggest appropriate supplementation/ homeopathy or IV Micronutrient therapy.  Plan to be at our clinic for at least 1.5 hours to make sure that you have access to all of the therapies that you need on day one.

Follow up visits are from 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on your needs.

Will my visit be covered under insurance?

Insurance reimbursement depends on the individual plan that you have.  Dr. Chapman is a preferred provider with many insurance plans and can be billed as an out of network provider for many others.  Dr. Chapman provides insurance billing for those plans.

If you are not sure of the exact details of your plan, simply download this insurance form.  This form contains all of the questions to ask your carrier about your individual plan.  You can acquire this information by calling the number on the back of your insurance card and talking with the friendly folks in client services.  If you bring this completed information in on your first visit, your insurance will be billed quickly and efficiently.

In any case, you will be responsible for your co-pay, deductable and any services rendered that are not covered under the scope of your individual plan.  Please note, Dr. Chapman is not contracted with Kaiser Permanente.

If your plan covers Naturopathic medicine, your office visit will be covered.  Plans vary on the type of services covered within an office visit.  Many of our patients have coverage for procedures such as IV therapy, Spinal Manipulation and Prolotherapy as well.
